Prof. Dr.-Ing. Elmar Bräkling has been teaching and researching in the fields of procurement and logistics at Koblenz University of Applied Sciences for over 15 years. In the Faculty of Economics, his main areas of expertise include material group management, procurement strategies, supplier management, costing and negotiation management. In this context, he is the founder of the “Power in Procurement” management approach. He has published a specialist book on this methodology with the publishing house Springer Verlag. In the book, the central future challenges for the areas of procurement and logistics are brought to the point and backed up with systematic solution approaches – especially and in particular for all tasks relating to successful procurement management.
In his tasks, Prof. Dr. Bräkling draws on well over ten years of industrial management experience, particularly in the automotive industry. At Daimler AG, for example, he was Head of the Sindelfingen plant process model, Assistant to the Vice President Research Electronics & Mechatronics, Head of Purchasing at Daimler AG, Hamburg plant, and most recently Head of International Procurement Services / Consulting & Engineering in Central Purchasing at Daimler AG. Today, Elmar Bräkling is also managing partner of PIP – Power in Procurement GmbH.
In these functions, he advises and supports companies from industry and commerce on the future-proof orientation of the purchasing function – for real negotiating skills in difficult contract awards.
